Calibration Services: Surface Plate

We used the Moody Method to plot and analyze the surface plate flatness with our electronic differential levels and our laser flatness measurement systems.

  • NIST Traceable
  • Compliant to ISO-10012-1, ANSI Z540.1, 45662A
  • Calibration in accordance with Mil-Std GGG-P-463c
  • "as found" and "as left" data provided

Surface Plate Reconditioning

We can lap your surface plates to bring them to any grade required. Starrett Precision Granite Surface Plates provide an accurate reference surface from which final dimensions are taken for work inspection and for work layout. Their high degree of flatness, overall quality and workmanship also make them ideal bases for mounting sophisticated mechanical, electronic and optical gaging systems. We can keep them in new condition with our calibration and reconditioning program.

Did you know?

According to the Federal Specifications for Surface Plates GGG-P-463c, your surface plate should be mounted with three support pads. Prior to calibration, we check the support pads or properly installed. This is particularly important for surface plates on mobile stands. You would be surprised at how many surface plates we find with no support pads. The support pads should be located no less than one-fifth or more than one-fourth of the length and width in from the ends and sides, respectively, with the exception that the single pad at one end shall be located in the center.
